An unidentified man can be seen on top of the scaffolding.St Davids Presbyterian Church, built in 1935, was designed by Canterbury architect Cecil Wood and built by Wadey & Efford of Rangiora at a cost of 1300. Its windows and embellishments are in the Art Deco style of that era. One of the stained glass windows in the church was given by the Dewar family in memory of Alexander Robert Dewar who was killed during World War II. It replaced a wooden church built in 1885. The old church building was shifted to a farm in West Eyreton for use as a woolshed. Reverse: (pencil) "The present St Davids Presbyterian church at Cust".
