Making History Now
Collection
Collection DescriptionIn the future, historians and social scientists will be fascinated by our experiences during the Covid 19 pandemic. How did we feel? How did we manage our day-to-day business within our home bubble? How did we express that day-to-day business in a different way? What did you do as part of your church community? What are some reflections on your personal faith journey at this particular time? How did that impact on the way we might work in the future?
As Archivists, we will be focusing on collecting your stories and resources so that we can continue to connect the past, the present and the future, and would encourage you to collect some of your thoughts to share with us. These stories may be deeply personal and, like the diaries we have traditionally collected, can be restricted for a set number of years or only accessed by family or a specific group of researchers. Some, with agreement, may be able to be made public, to help to guide or inform others. The important thing right now is to document your thoughts so that you can share them with us in the future.
There are various ways to collect your experiences including the traditional handwritten diary, Facebook (or other social media) posts, recording short videos or audio recordings, or using online journaling sites. You might have created online worship resources or written a sermon reflecting on the crisis. You might have provided food, social services or pastoral care.
When you are ready, you are welcome to upload files here. In order to help us tell who's who, rename your file so that it's descriptive of you, your congregation or worshipping community. Instead of "IMG0369.mov" make it something like "WorshipFirstChurchDunedin.mov" or “ThoughtsRevJohnSmith.docx”.
We are living in a historically significant period – help us document this for the future.
