Foxton/Shannon Co-operating Church

Rev Duncan Christian arrived in the early 1840s, and had a chapel built soon after. George Nye built St Andrew's Presbyterian Church in 1867.

Rev James Duncan worked as a missionary in the rohe. He was inducted as the first minister to the European settlers and remained as minister until 1897.

The Methodist Church was built in 1913 on Avenue Road after their first church on Main Street was destroyed by fire. The Methodist Church was used as the union church by the Methodists and Presbyterians united in 1970.

The Presbyterian Church was sold to become Foxton's Little Theatre. Last edited by: Andrew Smith
