Inchclutha-Kaitangata Presbyterian Parish 1862-1963
The early settlers of Wangaloa, Kaitangata and Balclutha worshiped in a church built in 1850 near Balmoral, Inchclutha under the pastoral charge of the Rev. William Bannerman until they had their own churches and members.
The parish was founded in 1862, Kaitangata split off in 1889.
Lovell's Flat joined Stirling in 1943, and then Stirling amalgamated with Kaitangata in 1963 to form the Stirling-Kaitangata Parish.
Parish records were lost (in 1933) in a fire in the session clerk's home.
Wangaloa Presbyterian Church was built in 1895 and relocated to Queenstown in 2000 where it became the cellar door for Waitiri Creek Vineyard.
