Five names are written on the right side of the image in black ink by the author of the note on the reverse side, and the number is written by above the head of the person to whom the name belongs. The names are, "No 1. H, Gilbert (my mate)" / "2. H. Lang (Divinity student)" / "3. Willie Findley" / "4. Myself (Adam Madill)" / "5. Dawson, (Madill)"

My study 5 stories high, so we get plenty of fresh air." / "How are you keeping lately? You must remember me to Fred and Ella. That was a nice memorial card. "Until the day breaks" as it is a grand thing to think that after all we shall meet our love ones again. How much does Christianity do for us. I am longing to see you again. Have been asked to go to Hunua [North Island] for Summer. If salary not too small I shall go. Good by. 'God be with us till we meet again'. Adam Madill"
