Hedgehope Presbyterian Church

1860s A. H. Stobo took first services at Mabel Bush. 1863 Longbush Parish established.
1864 Thomas Alexander inducted. Parish meets at Mabel Bush School.
1873 Woodlands parish formed, including Mabel Bush, Grove Bush and Hedgehope.
1878 services at Hedgehope school.
1888 Mabel Bush church opened, this is after the construction was threatened by a bush fire. Contract Buildier Mr. Thomas Phillips for £200. The Rev. D. Dutton is taking services at Hedgehope every fortnight until his departure. The Rev. James Baird of Winton conducts the first service in the Smithy of Hokonui Coal Mine Works.
1902 petition to Presbytery, the Rev. E. Bissett of Woodlands begins evening services at Lower Hedgehope School.
1909 Hedgehope Home Mission Station established, individual communion cups introduced. Grove Bush was initially not in the boundaries of the Home Mission but in practice has been.
1910, November, Manse at Hedgehope open. Mr R. Chisholm, home missionary resident.
1923 Hedgehope Church open, pulpit bible presented.
1955 New manse opened.
1960 Presbytery raises Home Mission to a Charge.
1967 New Church Centre.
1975 Mabel Bush church demolished.
1977, 30 January, Parish united with Forest Hill. Last edited by: Andrew Smith
